21st Annual
First Swing Seminar and Learn to Golf Clinic
On May 5, 2006, Boas
Surgical and Good Shepard co-sponsored the 21st annual First Swing Seminar and
Learn to Golf Clinic at Center Valley Club at Stabler Center. The all-day event
was a huge success. The weather this year was perfect for the early May date.
Thirty-five individuals participated in the event including persons with
disabilities or amputations, family members and rehabilitation specialists. Ken
Doe CPO, Jeff Bednarik CPO and Aaron Calla CO CPED represented Boas, as well as
several patients, including Jeff Harris and Bob Buck. Bob Buck, President of
the Eastern Amputee Golf Association, presented Jeff Harris with a donated golf
bag and golf clubs at this event. This was Jeff Harris' first time attending
the event and he showed great potential. He is looking forward to next year's
event.
As a follow-up, anyone interested in learning golf, even for the
first time, is welcome to join us on four golf outings this summer. These are
being run by Good Sheperd Recreational Therapy Department. The cost is ten
dollars per session. Individuals may attend one or all sessions. They will be
held at Center Valley Club. Sessions will include practice at the driving
range, chipping, putting, and at least two holes of golf on the course.
